Sims 3 Custom Content Not Showing Up In Game Mac And Cheese
- edited January 2010Are you saying you're trying to get the CC from here? If so, you don't need to extract or use a monkey. Any CC I have I've gotten from the exchange here, you'll get more success if you try downloading families instead of individual sims.
There is a thread on here that shows what CC is bad for the game and also tonnes of responses from simmers who link to sims/families that contain CC that will show up in game.
http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/119137.page
Hope this helps
Here is a family of mine that has some CC that will show up
http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail.html?assetId=1802869# - edited January 2010Mine does the exact same thing- and when i asked for help they all told me that. But I know for a fact the custom content you get from the exchange installs by itself with the sims. I don't understand the technical language either..
Also, when I download anything in MB, it doesn't even download. Does that happen to you? - edited January 2010Yeah that happens to me too. I'm getting so fed up of The Sims 3. I might even go back to The Sims 2 where downloading CC was easy. And to the first answer, yes I download the CC from here.
- edited January 2010I am too! I mean, it's neat, but it seems like I spend more time trying to fix problems than i do actually playing. I've thought about going back to TS2. I even got cute little pets on there.
Are you by any chance on a mac? - edited January 2010try deleting your cache files in my documents/Electronic Arts/sims 3..
Can't say for sure it'll work but it's a good idea to do anytime you add or change anything - edited January 2010The CC in The exchange will not always show up. I hate to tell you this but you might want to try to go to a CC site and get it from there. Some sites give very good instructions but you will have to find and read them. Also did you even go to the thread Shelleybelley gladly found for you? Sorry for sounding rude.
- edited January 2010I went to it and i read the tutorial before i even came here. Granted, I didn't read all 41 pages. I did post my question there though, I thought they might know something. The tutorial told me what i already know basically. I can't even download the sims, regardless of custom content. And it isn't a matter of it not ALWAYS showing up- it won't show up at all. When I was on my PC it kind of worked. It doesn't work at all now.
I can only install sims that have absolutely no CC, and even then it doesn't always work. The download has to be in KB for there to even be a chance. If the download is in MB it won't let me even try to install, the download fails. Households aren't even an option. - edited January 2010I went to it and i read the tutorial before i even came here. Ahhhhhhh! You are playing on a mac! Sorry, then for my useless information as I play on a PC and just assumed you were as well. Try also posting the question on the mac section of the forums, maybe someone there can give you a better idea if macs can install MB easily. (without the technical mumbojumbo LOL) - edited January 2010Ahhhhhhh! You are playing on a mac! Sorry, then for my useless information as I play on a PC and just assumed you were as well. Don't be sorry! That post was to the person above me. I tried going to the mac forum, theres never anybody there.
I'm sure your post helped the person who started the thread. I just kind of encroached on their topic cause i wanted some answers too. =D - edited January 20100
- edited January 2010And yea I did go to the thread ShellyBelly found for me, I've tried all those things, still not working
- edited September 2011I am too! I mean, it's neat, but it seems like I spend more time trying to fix problems than i do actually playing. I've thought about going back to TS2. I even got cute little pets on there.

I agree I spend more time trying to fix my sims 3 game more then I get to play it too, we spend a lot of money on these games and it makes me mad that every time I turn around something else is messing up, now I wished I didn't buy these games and I pre order the Pets now I wished I didn't cause the game sucks with out CC. I can not get my CC from the Launcher to In stall it says it installed but when I run my game nothing comes up but whats in my mods folder. If I can't fix it then I won't be playing for a long time Iv done uninstall and reinstalled all my games and it still won't show up - edited September 2011yeah it happening tp me now and honestly im very ****** off trying to fix it. like what the person above me aid, done uninstalling and reinstalling but still the same **** happens......i never had gotten a problem with this before up until now.
- edited December 2011I download the Custom Content from The Exchange, I click on them, I install them on the launcher, it says it was successful, the box with the CC on the launcher then fades and appears on Installed Content.
I get into the game and it's not there. I go back to the launcher and they're still there in the downloads and not in the Installed Content.
Also, they all specifically come from one Exchange user.
Also, most of all the sims I downloaded all have the same hair - and not the hair they were supposed to come with. - edited December 2011That because you are most likely downloading .package files which do not show up in the game unless you go through the proper steps of downloading CC
- edited December 2011I wonder if it has anything to do with the latest patch around December 2011, I've heard rumours about it causing some users to see their downloaded Store items not in their game.
In another forum, I remember seeing something about setting your internet security to off, but that advice was directed to PC users. I have no idea if turning off my internet security the MacBook way will fix this, although I have started to use 'Block Pop-Up Windows' recently, that could possibly be what's blocking Store content from showing up in my game.
I'll also play around with the other internet security settings (In 'Preferences'). - edited December 2011I convert all Sims3pack files to package files using Delphi multi installer, and all Sims to .sim with the sp3e program. Only files that I don't convert are houses or store downloads. I never have problems with content not showing up as it used to do using the launcher.
- edited January 2012I have no problems with CC not showing up in games, in fact, my problem is kindof of the opposite. it shows up in the game, but i dont want it, and I've gone through all of my CC in the launcher, and i looked at it under 'downloads' in the sims 3 file. It's nude 'pants',i guess, for toddlers, it doesnt make them all freaky like the ones for adults, but i think it's innapropriate and i want to get rid of it, but i cant find it anywhere! help?
- edited January 2012same thing kinda happened with me. i got the edtion of sims 3 pets with the pets store-the limited edition one i think-and i try to place the pet store in my town and its not there. ive tried every way i know how to place a lot in the town, but when i go to the launcher it says its installed..I dont know what to do now.
- edited January 2012BUMP. I have downloaded the four items I needed from The Sims 3 and re-installed to the Launcher couple times with Block Pop-Ups OFF, still no difference. Tried it with Relaunch Finder, Restart, Shut Down..Now I'm really worried the problem won't be fixed by the time my hotel is done.
- edited February 2012I'm having the same problem. I got TS3 Pets Limited Edition, downloaded all the latest patches and, suddenly, I can't seem to properly download CC from The Exchange itself.
I've been a long-time player, and have downloaded a lot of content from The Exchange in the past, so I know how it works. The lots, characters, etc. all show up as 'installed' in my launcher but none of them ever shows in the game! - edited February 2012I have never really experienced any problems myself from the exchange part and putting them into the game. The content you are downloading, you sure you have all expansion packs for? e.g. such as some items you download contain needing world adventures expansion pack and wont work if you dont have it.
Slightly confused about the cache thing tbh what someone mentioned earlier on. if you delete it, does it come back automatically or what? . - edited February 2012Yes, the main four Cache files: simCompositor, compositorCache, scriptCache and CASPart all regenerate when you play the game again.
You might wanna delete what's IN the WorldCache folder BUT DO NOT DELETE THE FOLDER. - edited February 2012i have the same problemss!!!!! SO ANNOYING it makes me not want to play at all lol
- edited April 2012I found the solution on another thread and it worked (Yay!)
You simply delete the The Sims 3 Preferences folder in your computer library.
Copy & Paste on your desktop then delete the original.
